Develop good habits from the start (wake up, eat a hearty breakfast, be prepared for school, etc.)
Be prepared to be flexible should anything unexpected come up or the schedule changes.
Remember all school rules apply in virtual meetings, Seesaw, Canvas, or any other website we use for school.
Create an appropriate workspace:
Set up a physical location that is dedicated to school-focused activities.
Pick a place that is quiet, free from distractions, and has a good internet connection (headphones helps to minimize distractions.
Be prepared:
Students should be ready 10 minutes before their meeting time starts to ensure they are prepared with necessary materials and are able to log in.
Please make sure your child does not play with toys, pets, siblings, or other things during class meetings as they tend to cause a distraction.
Begin and end the day by checking-in
In the morning you might ask:
What classes do you have today?
Do you have any assessments?
What resources and materials do you need today?
At the end of the day you might ask:
What is something new you learned?
Did you have a difficult time with anything?
What can I do to help?
Allow your child to take breaks
Take frequent breaks. After each lesson or activity, students should have the opportunity for a movement and or brain break.
